It is Necessary to Abide - 2 Peter 2

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries, whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord. But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: ‘A dog returns to his own vomit,’ and, ‘a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.’”

If we understand this passage well, and that it is written to believers, we would understand that we must be very careful with deviation or apostasy, because no one is free to fall. There are many who believe and even preach that a person, at the time they accepted Christ, that they no longer have anything to worry about. But it is not like that. If one has come to Christ, or has been born again, as the Lord Himself explained, that is only the beginning of a long journey. It is not a question of accepting Christ, and nothing else, because unfortunately, that is part of the deviation that exists today in many places. In order to be saved and obtain the eternal life that God has for those who love him, it is necessary to abide.

The first problem that can arise with a believer who takes salvation as something certain, as something that does not depend on their own decision to remain is precisely the matter of taking things for granted, of not being careful with what they listen to or follow, because the devil is always there, dedicated to precisely making believers fall. The believer is the one who is most prone to the attack of the enemy. How can I say this? Very easy. If the devil tried to tempt the Lord Himself many times while He was on this earth, how can he not try to tempt one of us? And do you think he tried to tempt the Lord in vain? The devil tempted the Lord because the Lord had a choice. The devil is not stupid. The thing is that God never takes away free will. The Lord was free to do as He wanted, to yield to the enemy, or to follow the Father’s design. As we read, the angels also have free will because although they were in their sinless state, they fell, and followed the devil. And also, as it is written, these false prophets and teachers arise (and will continue to arise) from the people of God who deviate from the truth, for not remaining. Because what does he say about these? That: “…even denying the Lord who bought them.” Who did the Lord buy (past sense)? The unbeliever? No. Here he speaks of converted people who fell into temptation, and became agents of evil, by giving in to their lusts and to the sin that still dwelled in them. Because it also says: “They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness…” So, the convert can fall, because even if they have converted, they are always free to choose, because God does not force anyone. Everything is based on love, and in love, there is no obligation. There are people who unfortunately, due to their stronger desire for the world and sin, they allow themselves to be seduced by error, and end up settling for the illusionary crumbs of this world.

That is why we must not be overconfident, and we have to take care of our salvation, always choosing the will of the Father, zealous for His Truth. This also says the Word: “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” John 15:1-6. So, it is necessary not only to convert to the Lord, but also to bear fruit, ultimately, to do the will of the Father with our lives, because the Scriptures also say this: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23. The only way we will enter His kingdom is by doing the will of the Father, but because we love Him, and not with other intentions. God knows everything and will judge His people. So, are you abiding faithfully in the Lord to be able to obtain His salvation, or are you getting carried away by things that seem like the truth that feed your flesh? Lord bless! John

Persecuted for the Gospel - Acts 24

“Now after five days Ananias the high priest came down with the elders and a certain orator named Tertullus. These gave evidence to the governor against Paul. And when he was called upon, Tertullus began his accusation, saying: ‘Seeing that through you we enjoy great peace, and prosperity is being brought to this nation by your foresight, we accept it always and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness. Nevertheless, not to be tedious to you any further, I beg you to hear, by your courtesy, a few words from us For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. He even tried to profane the temple, and we seized him, and wanted to judge him according to our law. But the commander Lysias came by and with great violence took him out of our hands, commanding his accusers to come to you. By examining him yourself you may ascertain all these things of which we accuse him.’ And the Jews also assented, maintaining that these things were so. Then Paul, after the governor had nodded to him to speak, answered: ‘Inasmuch as I know that you have been for many years a judge of this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself, because you may ascertain that it is no more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. And they neither found me in the temple disputing with anyone nor inciting the crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city. Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me. But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets. I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men. ‘Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation, in the midst of which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with a mob nor with tumult. They ought to have been here before you to object if they had anything against me. Or else let those who are here themselves say if they found any wrongdoing in me while I stood before the council, unless it is for this one statement which I cried out, standing among them, ‘Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged by you this day.’ ’ But when Felix heard these things, having more accurate knowledge of the Way, he adjourned the proceedings and said, ‘When Lysias the commander comes down, I will make a decision on your case.’ So he commanded the centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and told him not to forbid any of his friends to provide for or visit him. And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, ‘Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.’ Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and conversed with him. But after two years Porcius Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.”

Through this passage, we see that there are difficult and very unfair moments that can be experienced for the Gospel’s sake. It is very likely that at some point in our lives we will suffer for doing good, for doing God's will. Whoever says that following Christ is easy, and that it only consists of prosperity, healing, and triumphs in this world, is either lying, or has no idea what following Christ is truly about. Because this is what the Lord Himself said: “But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.” Mark 13:9. So, sooner or later, there will always be some kind of persecution for the Gospel. The Gospel is free, but a price must be paid for it.

But it is very probable that many will say when knowing this: “What is the incentive then to do the will of God if it is very possible that we will suffer for that here and now?” What the Christian must understand, if they really want to be saved, is that this world is temporary. This world and everything in it will pass away, and our life is only a moment compared to eternity. I know this feels like it's long, and that circumstances here can be very difficult just to survive, but nonetheless, all this is going to go away one day. All this will end. So, if we are logical and wise, what should we always keep in mind? Where will I spend eternity? What will happen to me in the great judgment of God? That is why the Apostle Paul himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and by his own conviction, wrote this: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” Romans 1:16-17. Faith is the main incentive that we must have, the certainty that, if we fulfill God's will here on earth, at whatever the cost, that we will obtain eternal life through Jesus Christ. We have immortality in our hands if we obey God, despite the circumstances that we may have to live. The Word says this: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21.

Now then, how do we know that preaching the Gospel is necessary? This is what God’s Word says: “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4. God wants everyone to know the Truth, to at least listen to it, and of course, because He wants all men to be saved, without exception. But, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:14-15. Therefore, the Word says this also: “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.” 1 Peter 2:11-12. So then, if you desire to obtain eternal life, let go of your flesh’s desires, leave sin behind, and submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, facing whatever circumstance for the Gospel, so that when your moment comes where you will stand before God’s throne, that God Himself will say: “…‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” Matthew 25:21b. So, do you want to live well in this temporary world and lose your soul forever, or will you decide to suffer for these moments for the Gospel, but later, live eternally enjoying the gifts that only the Almighty King and God of the universe can give? True Gratefulness and Worship - Psalm 107:1-22

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, and gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons—because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.”

What is the true praise and worship that God seeks? Are songs necessarily what really pleases the Most High? Will nice and flattering words and entertaining music be what the Lord desires? Will the shows that are done today in different places with lights, and shouts, and applause be what God really wants? If there is not something genuine in the heart, if it is only words and music and entertainment, God hates it, as it is written: “…This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me…” Mark 7:6b-7a. True gratefulness and worship to God is shown with things that go way beyond the superficial and passing.

This is what God Himself says about what He really desires: “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6. And the Word also says this: “So Samuel said: ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:22-23a. So we can see clearly that God is not necessarily looking for what the masses think are manifestations of gratitude and praise and adoration. God desires mercy with our neighbor as adoration, that we seek to know who He is and what His will is. God desires obedience and that we pay attention to Him, that we finally do His true will, because this is also written: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. This is very different from what is taught or demonstrated in our congregations today. Unfortunately, there is much deviation and confusion, and that is why we have what we have today, a people that is not even convinced of the truth of God. And if the so-called people of God do not know or practice the true will of God, how will the world know God? That is why we do not see a great difference between the church and the world, because much of the church continues in the world, just with a different letterhead and different customs.

The first thing to start with is with the “why” God deserves true gratitude and adoration. He is God, and there is nothing and no one higher than Him. This is the first thing. The next thing should be because He created us, and by His will we are still alive. Nothing and no one can exist or subsist without God, as it is written: “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16-17. And this is very important to understand and believe, because if you are not alive, then you cannot come to know the value of the following, that God gave us the opportunity to have eternal life. We can live forever by His grace, through His sacrifice, through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the culmination of why He deserves all our gratitude and adoration. If a person is not fully convinced of these reasons, I am afraid to say that they still do not know God and do not know what faith really is. The Lord deserves everything because without Him, we would have nothing and we would be nothing, and even more, if it were not for His salvation, our destiny would be hell where there is only darkness, suffering, loneliness, and eternal pain. That is why, if a person does not appreciate the things that God has done, and is more focused on themselves and other things, they continue on that road to hell.

Let's understand one thing. The Lord Jesus Christ is our role model, and He fulfilled God's will perfectly. And since it is so, let's see His life, and what He did, or rather, what He never did, (because what we need to know was left written for us, so there is no need nor reason to speculate about what the Lord did or did not do). Is it written that the Lord sang praises with the masses? Is it written that a music concert was ever held? Is this written that the Lord had said to His disciples: “Is it necessary that you teach the world how to sing to God, and to know how to play instruments to honor Him? It just never happened, and if it never happened, then what are we doing? I am not saying that singing and praising God is bad, but it is not what God truly seeks and desires. It is not His priority, under any circumstances. And if it is not His priority, why has it been made a priority, and given so much prominence? Why has it become the focus of most of our congregations? As far as I know, Christ must continue to be our model.

This is what the Word says when it has to do with the things we should be doing: “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:10-11. “And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, ‘Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’ He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’ So he answered and said, ‘ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ’ And He said to him, ‘You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.’” Luke 10:25-28. So, if you really want to thank the Lord and worship Him as He deserves, love Him with all that you are, and love your neighbor as yourself, and love is shown by deeds, not words. So, do you live a life that fully demonstrates your gratitude and worship to the Lord? Lord bless! John

Sexual Morality - Deuteronomy 22:13-30

“If any man takes a wife, and goes in to her, and detests her, and charges her with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says, ‘I took this woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin,’ then the father and mother of the young woman shall take and bring out the evidence of the young woman’s virginity to the elders of the city at the gate. And the young woman’s father shall say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as wife, and he detests her. Now he has charged her with shameful conduct, saying, ‘I found your daughter was not a virgin,’ and yet these are the evidences of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city. Then the elders of that city shall take that man and punish him; and they shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver and give them to the father of the young woman, because he has brought a bad name on a virgin of Israel. And she shall be his wife; he cannot divorce her all his days. ‘But if the thing is true, and evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you. ‘If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then both of them shall die—the man that lay with the woman, and the woman; so you shall put away the evil from Israel. ‘If a young woman who is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her, then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city, and you shall stone them to death with stones, the young woman because she did not cry out in the city, and the man because he humbled his neighbor’s wife; so you shall put away the evil from among you. ‘But if a man finds a betrothed young woman in the countryside, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; there is in the young woman no sin deserving of death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, even so is this matter. For he found her in the countryside, and the betrothed young woman cried out, but there was no one to save her. ‘If a man finds a young woman who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are found out, then the man who lay with her shall give to the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife because he has humbled her; he shall not be permitted to divorce her all his days. ‘A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor uncover his father’s bed.’”

We are living in a time where our society is more sexualized than ever. The truth is that everything nowadays involves sex, and in such a way that many people are even incapable of having platonic relationships. It seems that the only way to express affection or appreciation for another person is through a sexual encounter. And the worst part of the matter is that I am not talking about unbelievers, but about the so-called believers in God, those who say they believe in God, but live a life completely given over to sexual immorality, from pastors, preachers, and ministers, even to the newest people in the faith, many are living ruled by sexual immorality. Many so-called believers are practicing fornication and adultery to the fullest. And this was bad before the eyes of God in the past, it continues to be a sin before God today, and even more, its practice will be seen as a sin when His judgment comes upon all humanity.

As we read at the beginning, sexual immorality, both fornication (sexual relations outside the bond of marriage) and adultery (cheating within marriage) were highly sanctioned by God. Such was the matter with God that those who did such things had to be killed. What is the difference between then and now, under the dispensation of God's grace? That, as believers, we are not here to stone those who do evil, but this is still a sin before God. And a person may not suffer the physical death penalty here on earth at the hands of men, but if a person maintains this lifestyle, they will be condemned to live in hell for all eternity, if they do not repent and convert from these sins. The final penalty remains the same if a person does not stop practicing such things. Society can justify and applaud it all they want, but society and its laws have no power in the great judgment of God, and this is what many believers either choose not to believe or voluntarily ignore. But be very sure that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God, as it is written: “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21. However you want to see it, whether a person was never saved, or that they will lose their salvation, a person who practices such things simply will not inherit God's kingdom, or will not be allowed to enter His kingdom. But the only one who can inherit is a son, and here the passage speaks of not "inheriting" the kingdom of God, so meditate on that.

What else does God's word say about the matter in the New Testament (since many erroneously take the Old Testament to be a thing of the past)? The Word says this: “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:17-19. “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” Matthew 5:27-29. Thus, both fornication and adultery, even coveting another person outside of marriage are condemnable before God, and a person risks being condemned eternally, because the Lord himself said this: “…than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” So, what is the believer to do, especially within the dispensation of God's grace? To repent and convert from such things, to stop doing it completely, to stop practicing it, let alone excuse such sins. We see the same thing when they brought the adulterous woman to the Lord so that she would be stoned precisely: So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, ‘He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.’ And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?’ She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.’” So, will you seek to do God's will in your life, or will you continue to do things that put your salvation in grave jeopardy? The Blind that Choose to Stay Blind - John 9:13-41

“They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees. Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. They said to the blind man again, ‘What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?’ He said, ‘He is a prophet.’ But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight. And they asked them, saying, ‘Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?’ His parents answered them and said, ‘We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind; but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.’ They answered and said to him, ‘You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?’ And they cast him out. Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said to him, ‘Do you believe in the Son of God?’ He answered and said, ‘Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?’ And Jesus said to him, ‘You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.’ Then he said, ‘Lord, I believe!’ And he worshiped Him. And Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind.’ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, ‘Are we blind also?’ Jesus said to them, ‘If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.’”

Blindness is a very difficult and limiting thing, especially if a person has been blind from birth. Some studies show that not only do they have no reference to the physical world around them in their consciousness, but also, since they cannot see anything, they are also very limited in their visual dreams and imagination. In other words, blindness affects practically everything in their life, everything that has to do with visual content, whether consciously or unconsciously. What is it finally that does not allow a person to see? Two things or two ways. Regarding physical blindness, it is when a person cannot see because their eyes lack the ability to detect light, the ability to see how things are visually rendered by light. And with regard to the external, that is, when the matter is outside the body, it is when a person does not have problems with their sight, but rather, because they are in a place where there is no light, that they are in total darkness. It is possible to have good eyesight and be in a place where it is of no use to you because there is simply no light at all.

We see this story of this man blind from birth who was healed by the Lord, who had all the limitations we mentioned before. He was a man who had never experienced the joy of being able to see like most people around him, because the vast majority of people could see in his time, just like today. However, it was a great physical miracle that the Lord performed. But the miracle extended even further, to the spiritual, to what really matters. The man who was blind, through the miracle he received, was able to see the Lord as such, as Lord, and thus, not only managed to see the physical, but also, he was able to obtain the greatest miracle, the spiritual vision, or the light of Salvation.

Now the man who was born blind did not have the choice to be blind when he was born. In other words, at no time inside the womb could he have thought or said: It would be a good idea to be blind and beg to survive and have all kinds of disadvantages in the world. But, when the Lord presented Himself to him, all kinds of choices were presented. If we read a little earlier, he allowed for the clay made by the Lord to be smeared on his eyes. He also chose to wash himself, just as the Lord commanded him. And after that, he chose to suffer harassment, judgment, and even be expelled by the Pharisees. He could easily have denied that the Lord performed the miracle for Him, to be at peace with the religious, but he did not. Why? Because not only did he choose to value what was done to him, but he chose to value the Person who did it to him more than the others who had not done nothing for him. Why was he begging? Because even his parents had abandoned him. What had the religious do for him? Nothing that we can see. The man knew how to choose to value what was really worthwhile, and he valued the Lord to be more precious than his own life.

And well, many would say: If God did such a miracle to me personally, I would do the same. But the serious problem is that the Lord performs miracles at every moment for each one of us, and this is where voluntary blindness enters, the same blindness that the religious suffered. We saw before that the other way that a person cannot see anything is if they are in a dark place. And a person chooses to either leave that place of darkness when the Lord presents Himself, or stay in it, just like these Pharisees. The Pharisees preferred to honor Moses more (someone they had never seen in person, nor did they experience his deeds in person) than to honor the King of kings and Lord of Lords who was in front of them, who had not only healed multitudes, but He had even raised several dead already by then. There are people who simply prefer to remain blind to the fact that they owe everything to the Lord, even the breathing of their lungs, and the beating of their hearts, and yes, even the morning light that they see every day, the same that will be used to judge them if they do not repent, as it is written: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20. And, what can we say about His love through the cross, and about His resurrection? All of these things are irrefutable personally, but only if there is a desire to want to see the Truth. So then, do you want to continue in your voluntary blindness by remaining in the darkness, or choose to see and treat the Lord as Who He really is, and like that receive eternal light? Lord bless! The Coming Judgment - Matthew 25:31-46

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ ‘Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Will we all have to give an account before the throne of the Lord in the end? The point is that yes, each person, no matter where they are from, whoever they are, rich, poor, educated, illiterate, converted or unbeliever, absolutely all of us will have to give an account before the throne of the Lord for our deeds, without exception. I know that this concept goes against much of what is taught in our Christian community today, but ultimately, we must be guided by the Word of God, and not by what we think or desire. There is much evidence within His Word that teaches us that we will all have to give an account. And that is why dedicating yourself to listening to things that are pleasant and easy can be a serious mistake, because the price of following an error is very serious, and it can have eternal consequences if you remain in that. If you want to be wise, it is better to make sure that you are in what is true than to be seriously surprised at the end. I am afraid to say that there will be many people surprised at the coming judgment.

What misconceptions are there today? Well, for starters, there are many who think that all a person needs to have to inherit or gain entrance into the kingdom of God is belief in God and nothing else. There are others who say that we are saved by grace and nothing else, and that works don't matter, that they don't mean anything anymore. And there are others who believe the opposite, that the only thing that matters is being a good person and doing good deeds, and that a person will be fine with that. Among the most liberal, there are those who believe that we are all children of God, and that God's love is so great that in the end, He will forgive us all, whatever we do, and whatever we believe. There are others who think that everything is already predetermined and that there is nothing else to do, and that you just have to follow a set path, treating God as things of destiny. And the list is very long for so many other ideas and things that people prefer to believe as true, and base their eternal future on things with little or no foundation.

Now then, what finally is the way that we can inherit or obtain eternal life? The first and most fundamental thing is: Who. Many see God as a universal god, or that all religions lead to the same God. And if we talk about religions, there are many religions that have many gods, not just one. The ancient Greeks and Romans, for example, were polytheists, or believed in many gods. So, the matter of all religions leading to the same God cannot be. The other thing that contradicts that concept is that, if he were all the same god, he would be a god with very big psychological problems, because he would suffer from having different personalities. How can a god tell a group of people one thing, and the same god say something different to another group of people? It just can't be. And if so, it would not be worth following him because he would be changeable, capricious, and inconsistent, at the very least. And you can't trust a being like that. When we talk about God, the Judeo-Christian God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we are talking about the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, as the Word says: “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” 1 John 5:7.

When you understand "Who" things are about, then everything else begins to take shape and get more defined. So, what do we have to do to inherit eternal life? This is what the Word of God says, which the Lord Himself reiterated: “And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, ‘Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’ He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’ So he answered and said, ‘ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ’ And He said to him, ‘You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.’” Luke 10:25-28. What does this tell us? This describes a clear path for us. The first thing: that the Lord must be first in everything, and that we must love Him above all things and with all that we are, and to do as He tells us, as the Lord He should be in our lives. And the second thing resulting from the first, or because we love the Lord, and we want to obey him, is that we must love our neighbor as ourselves. The reason why we do everything should be for the Lord, especially when we help people who have real needs. That is what true faith is about, that our belief is so strong in the Lord that we love Him above all things, and that we seek to do His will, whatever it may be, despite the circumstances. The Word says this also: “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:14-20.

Grace and the Law - Galatians 5:1-18

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion does not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”

Since the Lord came to this world to establish the new covenant through His Person, there has been a lot of confusion in man about what a person must do to be saved, to attain eternal life. But what must be made very clear is that it is not God's fault, because He is not a God of confusion, but of Truth, of light, and of life. So, what is the problem? Us. Human beings, when they are guided by their carnality, by their own ideas, and are not humble and sensitive to God, are the ones who produce these controversies and confusions, because the Truth is the Truth, but it all depends on how a person wants to hear It, whether they are really willing to listen to It, or if they have other intentions. But, quite simply, there are no controversies in the sound doctrine of Christ, in what He taught us. God offers a single, exact, and precise Path to reach eternal life, but man (and of course, through the devil's temptation) is the one who creates other paths, other ideas, and gives birth to confusion and ravings.

The first thing we should look at is the matter of whether Christ really came to put an end to the law. Let's first see what this law is. The law is all the commandments that were given to us before the Lord came to earth, and it was given through Moses, so that God's people could have the best life possible on this earth. And within that law, there were commands that were carnal or symbolic signs or practices, like this matter of circumcision. Circumcision was a physical sign that God established as part of that law. And if we see it medically, it is also a very good hygiene practice for men, to avoid certain complications that can affect men and women. But the Lord said this: “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” Matthew 5:17. So, is there a contradiction between what the Lord said and what Paul teaches here in Galatians? Of course not. Christ did not come to abrogate or remove the fundamentals of the law, which does produce eternal life, but the physical, which does not really impact the soul of man, and that is what Paul is referring to. That is why this practice of circumcision is no longer necessary, because it was something external, physical, something that within itself has nothing to do with the soul of a person. Just like the matter of whether Saturday is the correct day to worship God, and to rest. The Lord Himself worked, per say, on Saturday on several occasions, but of course, to do things that were the full will of God, not to get rich, or for other things. So, is Saturday or Sunday important enough to define a person's eternity? No. What matters is that a person congregates with other people to worship God, as was the Lord's custom (because He is our example), and creation itself, which God created, teaches us that having a day of rest regularly is good for our health.

So, what is the grace that both the Lord and Paul teach? The true fulfillment of the law through the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. The law is simply the instruction that God gives us through His Word so that we know what to do to inherit or have eternal life. This for example says the Word: “Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, ‘Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’ So Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ’ And he said, ‘All these things I have kept from my youth.’ So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, ‘You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.’ But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, ‘How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.’” Luke 18:18-25. And the Word says this also: “And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, ‘Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?’ He said to him, ‘What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’ So he answered and said, ‘ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ’ And He said to him, ‘You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.’ But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, ‘And who is my neighbor?’ Then Jesus answered and said: ‘A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. So, what do we see clearly? That everything that has to do with loving God and loving our neighbor in the law is still as valid as when God commanded it. And that, if you do not love the Lord above all things, doing as He commands, nor love your neighbor as yourself, you will not inherit or obtain eternal life. And that after all, faith without works is dead, because love can only be shown through action, through work. So, do you live the grace of God through Jesus Christ for eternal life, or do you follow your own ideas following and observing things that are of no value? Lord bless! John

Parent’s Responsibility - Numbers 3:1-4

“Now these are the records of Aaron and Moses when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai. And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab, the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he consecrated to minister as priests. Nadab and Abihu had died before the Lord when they offered profane fire before the Lord in the Wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the presence of Aaron their father.”

Having children is something beautiful, and of course, if you have them for good reasons. There are people who think that children should be had when two people love each other, and that these children are the fruit of their love, and that's good. There are others who have children with the desire that they be like extensions of themselves, and to be able to give them everything that they could not have, and that is not bad either. There are others who have children so that the children can achieve goals and dreams that they could not achieve, and that within itself is not bad either. And of course, there are people who have children by accident, or by trying to keep a partner, or unfortunately, to get things they want, and these are not very good reasons to have children. In short, children come for different reasons, some are good, and others are not good, but whatever the reason, a great responsibility begins, which starts at the moment of conception (because from there the responsibility begins, not when they leave mother's womb). And like all responsibility, you have to give an account, and the one who will demand an account is none other than God, and from God, no one can escape, as it is written: “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13.

Now, what are the things that parents (speaking of mothers and fathers) owe to their children? Not only before God, but also before society, they owe them essential things like food, clothing, a place to live, and care. These are the physical things that must be there for a person who can't provide for themselves. But also, in conjunction with that, what you owe them the most is not necessarily a university degree or giving them so they can enjoy pleasures or have fun, or even leaving him material goods. What you owe a child the most is instruction, and even more precise, to give them full knowledge of God, and to implant the fear of God in them. That is a must. Anyone might say: “But I don't even know about God. I don't know who he is. How can I give something like this to my child?” And here comes what forms part of all responsibility. You have to seek God to be able to give your child accordingly. You must have your own relationship with God to be able to impart that knowledge to your son or daughter, and that is a responsibility, and like any responsibility, you have to fight for it. Isn't it hard for you to work, to pay bills and debt, to maintain a place to live, to have food to eat, and also have enough to buy clothes and medicine if necessary? Of course. So, you also have to make an effort to seek God, seek to know who God is, and gain that relationship you need, as it is written: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8. So, all this implies action (work). If you seek God, you will find him. If you call on God, He will open up to you. Because, in short, just because you don't know or know about something, it doesn't free you from the responsibility you owe your children. There is no excuse. Just like there is no excuse for not knowing that there is a God, because He is in all things, as the Word also says: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20. So, no one has anywhere to escape from God, nor from their responsibility as a parent before God.

It has been mentioned that parents have a responsibility to let their children know who God is. And you may ask, where does the Bible say that? It says this: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9. This remains in effect to this day. Parents are supposed to teach their children to love the Lord with all their being, and they have to give them this instruction and knowledge always, since they are in the womb, because from there says the Word that God calls every person, from the belly, as it is written: “…From My mother’s womb You have been My God.” Psalm 22:10b. Parents need to repeat to their children as many times as possible and have things around them to remind them of this. This is not a good idea, but rather, a commandment. Because the Word also says: “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.” Psalm 127:3. Nothing and no one in this world can take away this responsibility before Almighty God.

What happened then to Aaron's children? This happened: “Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying: ‘By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy; and before all the people I must be glorified.’ ’So Aaron held his peace.” Leviticus 10:1-3. And also: “So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me. When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you shall surely die!’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. Ezekiel 33:7-9. They had been given the instructions they needed, but they did as they saw fit, and they paid dearly for it. And Aaron was not blamed because he told them what had to be, or else Aaron too would have perished with his sons. Parents fulfill their responsibility finally when they do as God commands. Having children is not a game, and a person should not do as things seem to him, but as God commands, if he really wants to do the will of the Father, which is what allows us to have eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ . As the Word also says: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. So then, are you fulfilling your responsibility before God? Lord bless! John

The Causes of Disobedience - 1 Samuel 15:1-24

“Samuel also said to Saul, ‘The Lord sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Israel. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of the Lord. Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’’ So Saul gathered the people together and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Judah. And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and lay in wait in the valley. Then Saul said to the Kenites, ‘Go, depart, get down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them. For you showed kindness to all the children of Israel when they came up out of Egypt.’ So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?’ And Saul said to Samuel, ‘But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.’ So Samuel said: ‘Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.’ Then Saul said to Samuel, ‘I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.’”

Like all things, nothing happens just because. There are always reasons for why things happen. There are motives or intentions that produce actions in each person. And this matter of disobedience is no exception. People don’t disobey just because, and especially when it comes to God's Word. In this passage, we can clearly see the reasons why Saul disobeyed the Word of the Lord through Samuel. Everything we do has a reason, something that produces it. So, this Saul had his reasons.

But before seeing the cause of disobedience, there is something that must be seen first, the reason for why it is important to follow the Word of God, despite the fact that there is a physical messenger or an intermediary. The point is that God speaks to us directly today through His Word which is the Holy Bible. Whenever a person reads or listens to something from the Bible, they are reading or listening to something that comes directly from God for them. It's no coincidence when it comes to that, and even in the most unexpected places. Whether you are sitting in a church (whatever it may be), or see a sign along the highway, or hear a song, or see it or hear it in a movie, or even see it at an American football game (because it's almost inevitable to see the poster of John 3:16 at a game in the stands), it is God who is speaking to you. And also, whoever the messenger is, even a deviant minister, or pastor, or teacher, if they are reading or speaking the Word of God purely (ignoring the deviation they are trying to use it for, of course), it is ultimately God who is talking. The Apostle Paul said this same thing: “Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.” Philippians 1:15-18. So, the Word of God is the Word of God, however it comes, and it is necessary to listen to it in Its purity and do what it says for one’s own good, because ultimately, the Word of God is for our good. Therefore, this Saul should have listened and obeyed Samuel, not because Samuel was giving an opinion, but because God spoke to Saul through Samuel.

Now then, what was the reason why Saul disobeyed? And the Word tells it and it also reveals the greatest cause that can be seen in an action. The first thing we can see is Saul's confession, where he tells Samuel that he broke the Lord's commandment because he feared the people. Saul was more afraid of other human beings equal to him than of the Almighty God who gave him everything, and who even wanted to establish him as king. And the other place that we see the main cause is when he goes back to Carmel and puts up a monument to himself after the battle. What does that say? That instead of giving glory to God, Saul glorified himself. Therefore, we can see that Saul's idol was his own person, and so he did not want to challenge the people, because he ultimately wanted their honor for himself. So, the clearest conclusion that can be reached is that the reason Saul disobeyed God is because he believed himself to be equal to God. And unfortunately, that is the reason why every person finally disobeys God, because they think they are equal to God. Instead of seeking to do God's will, a person seeks to do their will. That is why God Himself asserts that rebellion is like the sin of divination, and obstinacy like idolatry, because a person takes on the traits of the devil himself when they disobey God. And it should be clear, that whoever challenges God will lose eternally, just like the devil. Nothing good comes from rebelling against God and His Word.

So, today's question is a simple one, especially if a person is disobeying God and rebelling against His Word: Do you think you are equal to God? Lord bless! John

When God Allows for Oppressors to Show Up - Psalm 74

Based on Psalm 74 (New King James Version)

“O God, why have You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture? Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, the tribe of Your inheritance, which You have redeemed—this Mount Zion where You have dwelt. Lift up Your feet to the perpetual desolations. The enemy has damaged everything in the sanctuary. Your enemies roar in the midst of Your meeting place; they set up their banners for signs. They seem like men who lift up axes among the thick trees. And now they break down its carved work, all at once, with axes and hammers. They have set fire to Your sanctuary; they have defiled the dwelling place of Your name to the ground. They said in their hearts, ‘Let us destroy them altogether.’ They have burned up all the meeting places of God in the land. We do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet; nor is there any among us who knows how long. O God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy blaspheme Your name forever? Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Take it out of Your bosom and destroy them. For God is my King from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness. The first thing we could see is who wrote this Psalm and when was it written. This Psalm was not written by King David, but rather by Asaph, one of the three main worship musicians from the tribe of Levi who lived during the reign of King David. Why is this important? Because much of what Asaf wrote here is either from very ancient times, or is prophetic. Regarding ancient times, Asaph writes of the sea monsters (or great sea serpents as the Hebrew Scriptures further specify) and leviathan, which were creatures that existed before the flood. And of course it should be clear that Asaph did not see these creatures or these events in person. The other person who spoke of leviathan was Job, and the book of Job is believed to be the oldest book in the Bible, having been written long before Moses wrote Genesis. And when Asaf tells that they have set fire to the sanctuary, and that the synagogues have been burned, and that there is no more prophet, it is impossible for him to be talking about his present. During the time of King David, when Asaph lived, such things never happened. If not, the opposite was true. He lived during the time of the complete establishment of the Kingdom of Israel, and even of Jerusalem as its capital. So, what does it all mean?

In order to understand this better, it would be necessary to start with the future, that is, with the disasters that Israel would experience long after Asaf died. If a person heard this song by Asaf at the time, some would say that he would be crazy, or that he simply he is unaware of reality. But, what God does is that He reveals to Asaph what would happen to Israel when they left Him. Now, one has to wonder: “Why would (or does) God allow enemies to destroy His people?” God allows the enemies to do what they want when the people forget about Him, when they abandon God. This is what the Lord said: “But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you… …The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them and flee seven ways before them; and you shall become troublesome to all the kingdoms of the earth. Your carcasses shall be food for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and no one shall frighten them away.” Deuteronomy 28:15, 25, 26. So, the vast majority of the time, God allows the enemies of His people to prevail against them because they have simply turned their backs on God. And this was what would happen with Israel and the Assyrians, and later with Judah and the Babylonians. And of course, God allowed Rome to come and destroy Jerusalem in 70AD because the people of Israel did not recognize the visit of His Messiah. Instead of exalting Him as such, they crucified Him and killed Him, and neither the religious nor the governmental authorities repented from their great evil. The Lord had to be killed, but woe to those who got involved to do it and did not repent.

Now, why talk about such a distant past? Because faith can only be strengthened by remembering God's deeds in the past, and especially by remembering things that go beyond the circumstances of the present (or future). The enemies that would arise in the future would be many, very strong and powerful, but God had done great feats against much more horrible and gigantic beings before. The Lord had destroyed beings that exponentially outnumbered the enemies that would come later. This is the reason why we can never forget the past acts of the Most High, because they feed our trust in Him. There are two things that have to do with this aspect, and they are: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8. In the Word of God, we have the riches of His deeds, of His great actions, and of His immense mercies, because God acts out of mercy (there is nothing that can obligate Him to do anything). And blessed be the Lord that He never changes!

So, how do these things apply to us today? That we must always keep in mind, especially those of us who follow the Lord, that we can never forget the Lord. We can never turn our backs on Him, or else, great evils will happen to us. This is the reason why we have many of our problems today, because many who had known God have turned their backs on him. They have become infatuated in their sin and rebellion against God and have abandoned Him for things of much lesser value, and thus, insulting His greatness. Unfortunately, many of God's people sell themselves for very small and temporary things. They sell their relationship with God very cheaply. But, if one repents of all their wickedness, of their unfaithfulness to the Lord, God can have mercy again, and can do great things, He can act in our favor and do great things, such as those He did before. The Lord is a jealous God, but He is also merciful and good to those who seek His face and, above all, love Him. And the greatest enemy that we need Him to defeat for us is death and the eternal consequence of sin. He has defeated them on the cross, but we have to treat him as the Lord that He is so that He can effectively defeat these enemies in our individual lives. It is not about saying, “Lord”, but about actually treating Him as Lord. So, do you need God to deal with your oppressors? Lord bless! John

God’s Grace - Leviticus 17

“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘This is the thing which the Lord has commanded, saying: ‘Whatever man of the house of Israel who kills an ox or lamb or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp, and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting to offer an offering to the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord, the guilt of bloodshed shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people, to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they offer in the open field, that they may bring them to the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to the priest, and offer them as peace offerings to the Lord. And the priest shall sprinkle the blood on the altar of the Lord at the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and burn the fat for a sweet aroma to the Lord. They shall no more offer their sacrifices to demons, after whom they have played the harlot. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations.’’ ‘Also you shall say to them: ‘Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice, and does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to offer it to the Lord, that man shall be cut off from among his people. ‘And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.’ ‘Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who hunts and catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust; for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’ ‘And every person who eats what died naturally or what was torn by beastswhether he is a native of your own country or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. Then he shall be clean. But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then he shall bear his guilt.’”

There are many so-called believers who think: “Why read and study the Old Testament, if the old covenant has already passed, and none of that matters?” And it is necessary to say through the teaching of the Holy Spirit Himself that ignoring the Old Testament is a serious error, which is completely detrimental to true faith in Christ. It is impossible to discard the Old Testament because within it is part of the complete counsel of God, and also the substance of what the Lord came to reiterate and fulfill through His Person. Moreover, the greatest commandments that are still in force and are as an ordinance for the believer to become saved were given in the Old Testament, just as the Lord himself said: “Jesus answered him, ‘The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31. So then, I would have to say, that if a person excludes the Old Testament, they are committing apostasy.

Now, am I saying then that we have to go back to the ancient practices, to those that were taught through Moses? Not necessarily. There are things that God in His infinite wisdom and mercy has changed or even overlooked because very key things happened through the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, such things that changed the course of practically everything that reality matters—the eternal. It is said very easily and trivialized quite quickly what happened at the cross and in His resurrection, and those are grave mistakes. Such is the error because this fact of not understanding what happened has helped to form a group of very ungrateful people that are insensitive to the things of God. If there is no true conviction in a person of what happened and why, they will not be able to overcome the judgment of God. Unfortunately, the closest these people will get to the kingdom of God is when they suffer God's judgment, and from there, be cast to hell. So, it's a very serious problem.

What we should see through today's passage and what is being practiced today is that we all sin, and very commonly, even while being in Christ. That is part of the function (if it could be said that way), of God's law, or of the Old Covenant, to help us understand what is bad and what is good. As you know, everyone, without exception, kills animals for food, and none is brought to the tabernacle or temple of God as a peace offering. And of course, killing animals, whether for food or other things, is done for trade and also for idols and demons (because these practices still continue), but never for God. And also, you can't take anything into the tabernacle or the temple of God because they don't exist. So, for various reasons, this God-given mandate is broken at every turn. So, what should happen with this knowledge? Two things: understanding that we sin at every moment (because this is just one example), and in different ways, whether we know it or not, and that should produce repentance and conversion, and, if a person has been forgiven by God, understand the magnitude of His grace, and that we continue to experience it at every moment, whether or not we know the wrongs we continue to commit. God in His grace changed the sentence for this sin through the cross of Christ (because being excluded or being cut off from the people of Israel meant that a person was excluded from all the promises and blessings of God). And God Himself was the one who changed this by fulfilling this prophecy: “Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.’” Matthew 24:1-2. This prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD, when the Roman Empire destroyed the temple, literally leaving no stone upon another, to extract all the gold and precious stones that were part of the walls. So, the only thing we can cling to, be it because of our ignorance, or dependencies, and even to survive, is the Lord and what He did on the cross.

So, if we manage to understand what had to be done before, and what God has done through the person of Christ, at the very least, a great and deep gratitude towards God should grow daily that should only culminate in a single thing: love for God. And that is what brings us to the law of God, and the way that we will get to the kingdom of God, by fulfilling that first commandment which is loving God with all that we are. God's salvation is a gift, but the price is immeasurable: the life and blood of God Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. But if a person does not come to love the Lord accordingly (because love is seen in works), then this will happen: “If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!” 1 Corinthians 16:22. If a person does not come to love the Lord as His Word says, they will not have eternal life. So then, do you understand God’s grace and in such a way to be able to come to love Him above all things? The Only Constant in the Universe - Psalm 107:31-43

“Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, and praise Him in the company of the elders. He turns rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; a fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it. He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and dry land into watersprings. There He makes the hungry dwell, that they may establish a city for a dwelling place, and sow fields and plant vineyards, that they may yield a fruitful harvest. He also blesses them, and they multiply greatly; and He does not let their cattle decrease. When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow, He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in the wilderness where there is no way; yet He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, and makes their families like a flock. The righteous see it and rejoice, and all iniquity stops its mouth. Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.”

There are many people who have different opinions about why circumstances happen in this life. There are, for example, those who think that they will do well depending on how they do things, that is, they think that a person will do well if they make an effort, if they dedicate themselves to what they are going to do, and if they are responsible. And of course, they think that the opposite is also true, and yes, there may be some truth to that. There are those who think that, in this life, everything is about opportunities, or even luck, that whatever a person does, everything will happen or not by itself. If we go by those who associate circumstances with spiritual things, there are many believers who think that everything will work out for them if they have enough faith in God. There are others who associate their circumstances with the way they believe God sees them, that is, if things are going well for a person, it is because God is blessing them because they are better than others, and vice versa. There are believers who think that circumstances depend on what they do right or wrong, that if they do well, that God is blessing them for their good works, and if a person is doing badly, it is because there is something wrong with them, or God is punishing them. In summary, we could see all kinds of ideas because there may be many reasons for why circumstances are what they are, but what is the only constant in all of this?

The first thing we should see, and if we really go by the obvious (although sometimes the obvious is not so obvious to everyone, because it all depends on how a person wants to see things) is that through the ups and downs, or good circumstances or bad circumstances, like the ones we read about in the passage, is that there is only one constant in all of this, and that is Lord. Whether things go well, or things go badly, God is the only One who does not change, and the One who is involved in everything that happens, what we see as good and what we see as bad. So, if God is the only One who does not change, and the One who allows everything to happen, and of course, the One who will be there at the end when this is all over, both for each person, and universally, is it worth focusing so much on the circumstances, or in what happens in the present? Now, it does not mean that what happens now does not matter, because it does matter, and a lot, especially what we do individually and why we do or don't do things. What I mean is that whatever happens, we should always keep in mind God, and that He is the One who matters most in all of this. And if we focus on Him, then we should care supremely about what He is going to do with us in the end, based on what we do during this passing and temporary time. This, for example, the Lord taught: “‘Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect…’ …And the Lord said, ‘Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.’” Luke 12:35-40, 42-48. So, what happens in the present matters a lot, but what matters most is how God sees us. And note that the Lord is speaking of servants, that is, those who not only belong to the kingdom, but also those who serve Him. So, this thing that many people believe and preach that we will not give an account for our actions as believers is completely false. And if God will judge the deeds of those who serve Him, how much more will God not judge those who despise Him, or do nothing for Him, or do not take Him seriously or into account? What will God do with those who, knowing the truth, do not follow it, but do things as they see fit? The broad way that is preached is truly a narrow gate.

This is what we should always keep in mind, especially as believers, through whatever circumstances come our way, whether good or unpleasant: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:9-10. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:7-8. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. So, if you find yourself in good circumstances, always think that God will ask you to give an account, and that He will judge you according to what you did during those good or difficult circumstances, in various problems. This is the end of the matter: God will not care so much about the circumstances, but rather, He will care about what we do in them, and if in all of this we seek to love Him above all things, being subject to His Lordship or not. This world fades away, but the Lord will always be Lord, and our eternity depends on Him, and He will determine our future according to our hearts and our deeds. You Belong to Who You Serve - 1 Corinthians 6:12-14

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.”

We can see many things in this passage, things that help us determine how we should live while we are in this temporary body, because God is greatly interested in what we do with our lives, with our bodies. There is a very important link between what we do with our lives and whether what we do will be found acceptable to God to let us inherit His kingdom or enter eternal life, (because things are not as simple as many prefer to believe). What we decide to do, both the intention of the heart and our actions action will determine where we will spend eternity. Therefore, it is necessary to take these things into account, for our own good.

The first issue is that the Word of God in Its fullness is the complete counsel of God to man. In other words, the Word is for our benefit, and not for God's. There is nothing that affects God. God and His kingdom, everything that belongs to Him is immovable and eternal. For example, if a person decides to hate God and dismiss what He says, it does not change the reality that God will continue to be God. Therefore, if a person does not want to obey God, they simply harm themselves and God remains unharmed. So, if a person wants what is good for themselves, logic or their own reasoning should lead them to think that it is convenient for them to seek God, and to obey Him.

The next thing we will see is this matter that we have the power to do anything we want to do, because we have free will, but that not everything is convenient. And what's more, we should be careful and not let ourselves be dominated by anything. Adopting faith in Christ does not mean that we will be perfect right away. We still must deal with our sin, with what dwells within our being. But the big difference that should be in our lives as believers is that there should never be the practice of sin. When we practice sin, that is where a person is allowing themselves to be dominated, and that is a very serious problem. Such is the problem that if a person, regardless of the faith they profess to have, does not come to master that evil in the Lord, they will not be able to enter the kingdom of God. The Word says this: “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21. Who is the one who inherits? A son. So, if the Word says that a person will not inherit the kingdom of God if they practice sin, what It is saying is that no matter if they are a child of God, if they allow themselves to be dominated by sin again, they will not enter the kingdom of God. God is love, but He is also Holy. And He forgives, but with the condition that we leave sin behind, step by step, day by day, seeking to do His will, and not let ourselves be dominated again by the same thing that caused our downfall to begin with. The Word says this: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7.

There is something that we must always keep in mind, especially as believers in Christ, and that is that we are created beings. God created us for Himself. When we were lost in our sins, we were totally apart from the purpose of our existence, and of course, whatever is useless is discarded. Hell is an eternal dump basically. But God decided to give us the opportunity so that our purpose of existing could be possible again through the cross of Christ, so that we could return to our original purpose. This says the Word: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10. The predestination that so many confuse is that each one of us was made and created for God and to fulfill His will. And He gives each being the opportunity through the Lord Jesus Christ to return to that original plan, under free will. So, a person decides whether or not to go back to that original plan or not through Jesus Christ.

And this is a related matter that we must always keep in mind, that as the created beings that we are, we were made to serve. And if a person does not serve God, then they serve Satan and sin, even though they think they are serving themselves. That is our reality. You serve someone, whether you want to believe it or not, and there are only two sides, two options: God or the devil. There is no in-between. So, it can also be determined that you belong to whom you decide to serve. If you serve God, you belong to God. But, if you serve the flesh and sin, you belong to that, and ultimately you belong to the devil. This is what the Word says about it: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).” Ephesians 2:1-5.

And now it can be understood that the real reason behind inventing the so-called theory of evolution is so man can justify their rebellion and pride, to feel that they owe nothing to anyone and to do as they please. And much of humanity prefers to believe that it came from a cosmic accident, and from primates than to think that they owe everything to the Holy Being who created them, Who continues to allow them to exist (because if we breathe and our hearts beat, it is because God allows it), and that it depends on Him and on His truth whether a person lives forever or dies in hell forever. When a person does not obey God, they adopt this same feeling, and they finally condemn themselves to belong to Satan, no matter what faith they profess to have (because God will judge us by the intention of our hearts and by our deeds, and not by what we say). This is what the Lord himself said: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. The Flesh - 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

“Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”

Many times, and the vast majority, almost always see as problems things that really aren't problems, and vice versa, things that are really problematic as good things or non-issues. But the point is that we must understand what can be a real problem, and what can affect us infinitely. We should not think that our worst problems are bad circumstances, or other people, or even the devil and his demons (although these are all factors). The worst problem we have is the flesh, and to be even more exact, our flesh or carnality, even literally speaking. This is our number one enemy, our worst problem.

Through the Word, God warns us in different ways of how we should be careful with the flesh, that we cannot trust the flesh, that we should not follow the flesh, and that we should not make decisions based on the flesh. In short, God always puts great alert to everything that has to do with flesh. For example, we simply cannot trust the flesh, or the things of the flesh, as it is written: “Thus says the Lord: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.’” Jeremiah 17:5-8. So, quite simply, if a person trusts in the flesh, they bring curse upon themselves. Why does this happen? Two reasons. Because God punishes everything that is based on the flesh, and has called it accursed, but also, because the natural consequence that the flesh produces is curse. This also says the Word about it: “For he who sows to his flesh waill of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Galatians 6:8. So then, God teaches that if a person invests in the flesh, or is only concerned about pleasing the flesh, the fruit or the product will be corruption.

The Lord also says that the flesh promotes weakness, and that is why we cannot depend on it. He said this: “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41. So, the flesh is something that makes us weak. It doesn't help us face circumstances, let alone temptations, or trials, and of course, even tribulation. The spiritual or divine things are what help us to be strong, to be able to resist any problem, and of course, help us to enter the kingdom of God. That is why the Word also says this: “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:16-21. So quite simply, we cannot even depend on the flesh in any way, we cannot seek to satisfy the desires of the flesh, and of course, we cannot give free rein to the desires of the flesh, or else, we will not be able to enter the kingdom of God, and that is a serious problem, an eternal problem that has no remedy.

The issue is that if we get carried away by the flesh, we will fail to do God's will. And this problem can arise at any moment, which is the worst problem. The best example we have where we are shown that we cannot let our guard down is what happened to the Apostle Peter. This we read: “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, ‘Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?’ So they said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’ Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ. From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!’ But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.’ Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.’” Matthew 16:13-27. And so, anything can change in a matter of moments if we are not mindful of the flesh, if we allow ourselves to be overtaken by it. The Word also reiterates this: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. The flesh goes completely against God and His will, and if our life becomes a collection of carnal things, will God be able to let us into His kingdom? That is why every gospel or doctrine that is based on or seeks to please the flesh and seek the pleasures of this life is accursed. Everything that has the flesh as its center or as an end to please the flesh is accursed. So, is your life and your faith based on the flesh or on the Lord and on doing His will for eternal life? The True Gospel Message - Galatians 1:1-14

“Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead), and all the brethren who are with me, to the churches of Galatia: Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.”

Is there such a thing as many perfections, or several truths? Does each person's opinion dictate the reality of the universe? Today, and thanks to our supposed evolution, there are many more ideas accepted as truth than before. And of course, thanks to communication, all those ideas are transmitted to the whole world in a matter of seconds. And adding to that, many people form different opinions by taking or mixing different ideas that they pick up along the way, and form their own opinion. And since society in general supports lawlessness, they feel more than authorized to think and believe that their truth governs in some way the universe, eternity, etc. In short, the vast majority of people adopt their own belief, their own truth, and live that way, thinking that the universe is subjected to them.

Unfortunately, things are not very different in Christianity, and as we can read in today's passage, it is nothing new either. There has always been, is, and will always be this matter of deviation and corrupting the Truth. Today, in all our churches, there are people who create their own gospel, their own Christianity, from the most learned to the newest, the vast majority create their own gospel. And of course, the reasons vary and there are many, but the ones that produce such a deviation are the same as always: the devil and the carnality of people. So quite simply, and this should be an irrefutable truth for every believer, especially if they are guided by the Word of God, that there is only one Truth because there is only one God: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit, and these Three are One. And there is only one Word of God: The Holy Bible. I know that this thought opposes what the vast majority think, but there is no such thing as many truths or many gospels, or many ways to be saved, because the Holy Spirit is one, and there is only one message of salvation that He imparts. Therefore, and with all due respect, our opinions do not dictate the reality of the universe, nor is God going to take our opinion in consideration when we are before the most imposing and fearsome throne that exists when we have to give an account. Judgment day will be something that has never been experienced before. And at that moment, God will judge each one according to His Truth, and not according to opinions. And for those who deviate from the Truth, or simply do not accept the Truth of God, it will be the most horrible day of their existence, because the closest they will get to God and to heaven is when their final sentence is handed down to them to spend an eternity in torment and perpetual pain, a place where there will never be peace, light, or love, but only the most horrible things that can ever exist. Therefore, it is extremely foolish not to align oneself with what God says, because the price of error is very great.

So, what is the Gospel exactly? We have to go to the Word of God to see this, and it says this: “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.’” Mark 1:14-15. These things make up the Gospel, just as the only begotten Son of God Himself preached: repentance from all sins, and faith in the Gospel, in Christ Jesus. The Word says this also: “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before.” Acts 3:19-20. And the Word says this as well: “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:8-10. The Gospel or salvation of God consists of repentance and conversion of all sins (not just some), and of accepting Jesus not as a savior, or a prophet, or a good man, but as the Lord that He is, and of living under His Lordship.

And this brings us to the culmination. It is necessary to understand that if a person does not live under the dominion of the Lord, doing His will (not given to religiousness), they are simply not going to attain salvation. And you can look at this any way you want, whether a person was never saved, or that they will be condemned in the judgment, because faith without works is dead (this is what God’s Word says), as it is written: “What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,’ but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” James 2:14-24. And the Lord Himself said this also: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. So, the true Gospel or the salvation of man consists of these three things, especially for God to let us into His kingdom: A genuine and complete repentance and conversion, accepting Jesus as the only Lord and the work of the resurrection that God did through Him, and to live subject to that Lord, seeking to do His will and not your will, until the day you breathe your last breath. There is Room for Imperfection - Luke 7:18-29

“Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things. And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ When the men had come to Him, they said, ‘John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ ’ And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight. Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.’ When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings’ courts. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You.’ For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.’ And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.”

One might wonder, how could John the Baptist not have been sure that Jesus was the only begotten Son of God, the Messiah? Was it not this same John who baptized him in the Jordan, who saw the Holy Spirit descend upon him, and who even heard the voice of God Himself publicly testifying that this was His beloved Son? What happened to him from that moment until the moment when he sent his disciples to ask him? There is an answer that justifies John, and that also gives us great relief. Despite the fact that John was the greatest among all the prophets, he was still a human being, and that means that he was imperfect, that he had weaknesses that he continued to deal until the day he breathed his last breath.

The matter of following the Lord, and finding favor with the Most High was never about perfection. We have great examples in history that give us these indications, great men who achieved the grace of God, and who were very special and precious beings for God. For example, Abraham was not perfect. He made mistakes. But, that did not interfere with him being the father of faith, and that God himself called him His friend. Moses was not perfect, but that did not interfere with him being in the presence of the Lord of Hosts, who was able to see God face to face, and who will also come at the end times and be one of the two witnesses that God will use to help His people Israel turn to Christ. And what can we say about King David? David was not perfect. He made mistakes too. But that did not interfere with God Himself saying that He had found this David who was like His own heart, and that He would do everything He wanted, and also, that this same David would have the great privilege that the Messiah would be his descendant, because the Messiah had to be the Son of David. These men were not perfect, they made mistakes, but they not only found grace before the Eternal God, but they achieved great things that will last for all eternity for the glory of God, but also, for their eternal benefit, which they are enjoying at this very moment.

So, what can we understand through this? That God never imposed the weight of perfection on man. That was never His will because He Himself knows that we are weak, limited, and of course, very imperfect. This was the great error of the religious, and it continues to be the error of every person who assumes that what God seeks is perfection. It is true that Christ died so that we might be transformed, changed, to be new creatures in Him, to stop doing that which produces death, and to do works worthy of His kingdom. God is interested in what we do. But, there is something beyond that God is looking for, and that it is of course something genuine and from the heart, and not just from the mouth, and that is what helps us find grace before God, the same grace that these great men we mentioned found before, and the same thing that will help us to do what God wants, to do His will. God wants us to love Him above all things. This is the true will of God. This is what the Lord himself said: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” Matthew 10:34-39. And we read this also: “Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, ‘Which is the first commandment of all?’ Jesus answered him, ‘The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.’ So the scribe said to Him, ‘Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.’ Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’” Mark 12:28-34a. So, it must be very clear to us that what God is looking for in us is that we love Him and that we give Him the place that He deserves, first place, and that we treat Him as the Lord that He is. This is what Abraham, Moses, David, and also, John the Baptist had in common, and John even gave up his own life to do what God commanded him to do and he fulfilled his ministry, because he loved God more than his own life.

Therefore, through this is that we understand that in faith there is room for our imperfections, that it is possible for us to make mistakes (never an abuse of God’s grace because God will judge that), but that there must be something immovable within us, that we love God above all things, and that we treat him as the Lord that He should be in our lives, seeking to do His will and not ours. In this way we will find grace before God, through Jesus Christ, and we will be able to do His will on earth, which will give us access to His eternal kingdom. This last thing is what God will use to judge us: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” Jeremiah 17:9-10. Be Careful with What You Listen to - Jude 1

“Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’ But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots; raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, ‘Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.’ These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.”

Without a doubt, we are living in the last times, because many things in the Word are being fulfilled before our eyes. And we have this passage as an example, because what is written here has already been happening for some time, but now, it is only a matter of worsening daily, because there are more added to this decadence within the so-called people of God, with supposed servants who serve themselves. Honestly speaking, it is very difficult to find a servant who truly follows the Lord accordingly, and who preaches the Word properly, because there is too much deviation (which is ultimately diabolical), beginning with the same thing that Jude spoke about, inspired by the Spirit Holy, about those who turn the grace of God into “lawlessness” (more correct translation from original text, as opposed to “lewdness”).

This deviation within the church of God through corrupt servants is one of the most present issues within many congregations today, the issue of lawlessness. Do we have freedom in Christ? Of course! But God has set us free, those who have truly converted to Christ through repentance and conversion from all their sins, and who have accepted to faithfully follow Jesus as Lord of their lives, to do God's will, and not for sin, not to follow the desires of the flesh. The grace of God has been dispensed in our lives to do the will of the Father, and not to continue doing what brings corruption or to desire what is temporary. We were made free from sin by Christ and for Christ. But what is taught in many places today, or what pleases the crowds? “You don't need to repent from your sins; just believe and that’s it. Or, you are saved no matter what you do wrong. Or also, delight yourself in the Lord so that He can grant you the desires of your heart, and so on.” In short, the lawlessness that is taught and followed (because the one who teaches it is as guilty before God as the one who follows it) is that everything centers around the will of man and not on God. We were created and rescued from our sins not to do our will, but to do the will of the Father. Christ broke our chains to be able to do those things that produce life, and not to return to the condemnation of pleasing ourselves and doing as we see fit, to stop doing the same thing that caused our fall. So, how can a person dedicate themselves to those things, and be saved, if that is what caused our fall to begin with? So, you simply cannot follow things that lead to that, let alone listen to people who preach and teach such things, even if they do it with flattering and persuasive words, and in a very entertaining way, and by taking passages from the Word to create something that seems like the truth.

So, how can we identify these people who preach deviation? Jude gives us the following indications: like those who follow the way of Cain, or Balaam's error, or Korah's contradiction. The way of Cain is envy. Cain killed Abel out of envy. Balaam's error was to curse Israel for profit, that is, doing things for the love of riches. And Korah's contradiction was that Korah wanted to take Moses' place because he was hungry for power. Korah wanted to exercise dominion over the people. So, if you see a person ruled by envy, or by the love of riches, or power hungry (although they can be very flattering), stay away from such and do not listen to what they say, because they only seek to take advantage of you, and to cause your eternal perdition. Because this is the real issue: Salvation must be cared for, and you have to strive for it (just as we are taught in today’s passage), or else you won't have eternal life. And what Christ has done for us cannot be taken lightly. Salvation is free, but the price paid is immeasurable, because the body of God was broken, and the blood of the Most High was shed for us. The only begotten Son of God died for you and me. As the Apostle Paul himself said: “If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. O Lord, come!” 1 Corinthians 16:22. So then, are you listening to the Holy Spirit or to things that please your flesh? Lord bless! John

End Time Prophecies - Ezekiel 38

“Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you. ‘Prepare yourself and be ready, you and all your companies that are gathered about you; and be a guard for them. After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely. You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.’ ‘Thus says the Lord God: ‘On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’—to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land. Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’ ’ ’ ‘Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: ‘On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it? Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.’ Thus says the Lord God: ‘Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them? ‘And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,’ says the Lord God, ‘that My fury will show in My face. For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’ I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,’ says the Lord God. ‘Every man’s sword will be against his brother. And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.’ ’ ”

Among many of the scholars in the Scriptures, this passage is believed to speak of the much-feared Armageddon, where it will be God's confrontation with all the wicked people who come up to attack Jerusalem at the end. It will be a day like there has never been in all of history. God has fought against other armies that have risen up against Israel in the past, and they were great battles. But this will be the most horrendous in all history, and it will be in such a way that the blood will reach the bridles of the horses, that is, up to about five feet (or 1.5 meters) deep for 75 miles (or 120.7 kilometers) long. And that time is fast approaching, especially considering the spiritual decline of the world, and even worse, the decadence within God's own church. Everything is on the decline, and the multiplication of sin is the clearest and main indicator of the end.

One might ask this question: Will this happen because God designed it this way, or does He say it because He knows all things? And I would have to say based on the Scriptures that He says what He says because both are the answer. God has structured this world in such a way that sin has to end one day. He will not allow death or sin to last forever. He allowed both to exist to give way to free will, so that there could be choice, since everything that has to do with a relationship with Him is based on love, and in love, everything is about choice. But also, He says it because He knows the evil of men, and He knows what they are capable of, and that the vast majority of human beings will use their free will for evil, and that all those who remain then will have evil thoughts continually, those who are not in Jerusalem. So, the world will fall by its own wickedness when that day comes.

One thing we can say with great certainty, and that is, that the end has not yet come because He wants to give as many as possible a chance to repent, as it is written: “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.” 2 Peter 3:8-10. So, this business that God is so severe, and that they paint Him as unfair and cruel is not true. If it were up to His holiness, all of this would have ended a long time ago. But, out of His great love and immense and almost limitless mercy, He still gives time, and waits very patiently for the repentance of many. God is good, but the opportunity only exists for repentance here and now. But, at the time a person leaves this world, there is no more time for repentance, there is no more opportunity, and if they have not turned from all their sins and done the will of God, their destination is eternal condemnation. For the Scriptures also say this: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. So, there is a time limit to do the will of the Father, and the person who only seeks to do their will, no matter how much they might say they believe in God, will not be allowed to enter His kingdom.

So, everything is determined by what a person chooses to follow, be it the desires of their sinful heart, or doing the will of the Father. Those who continue to fulfill their will shall have the same eternal end as those who God will confront in the future. But those who repent and convert from their sins and seek to do God's will in this life will have the same reward as those who are in Jerusalem, both His divine protection and eternal salvation. So, as we speed towards a certain end, whose will do you seek to fulfill, your will or God's will? Lord bless! John

What is Salvation Really About? - Hebrews 2:1-4

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?”

There is much confusion today when it comes to salvation and faith in Christ. There are many opinions, and the vast majority differ with the Truth that the Word of God teaches. Are there different versions of the Gospel? Is there more than one way to see God's salvation? Is faith in Christ multifaceted? If we understand very clearly what the Bible teaches in its entirety, I would have to say: No. I know that this thinking goes completely against what society wants to teach and those who are carried away by the world, where everyone wants to have an opinion, and that the opinion they have dictates reality in some way. The world wants to bring faith like what they do when they give every child a trophy just for participating in an event, or a game of something, without winning. But salvation and faith in Christ is not like that, but rather, it has only one purpose and why. There is no such thing as many truths or many perfections, or that everyone is correct. Yes, salvation can affect many things in our life and in the present world, but that is not what it is about. Salvation and faith in Christ goes much further.

Let's see to start that salvation is not necessarily about fixing our lives here, and turning it into a collection of human or temporary triumphs. This is what the Lord said: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. If the Lord said that we would suffer affliction, it does not mean then that He necessarily came to fix your problems in the present, as is widely preached, such as the gospel of healing and prosperity that promises people who do have enough faith, that everything will work out for them here and now, and that they will have much wealth, and that they will not have any health problems. As an example, the first one who failed in this sense was the Lord himself because He was a poor while here on earth, and to such an extent that He even said that He did not even have a place to lay his head. And this also says the Word: “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19. So, it is very clear that salvation and faith in Christ is not necessarily about fixing or improving our human life here. And I know that by saying this, possibly many have already diverted their attention to something else because this is one of the main reasons why the masses try to have some kind of faith in Christ, with the idea that God will help them with their problems and fulfill their whims. But I would have to challenge it this way: Do you want a life of lies, based on fables designed to take advantage of hearers, or do you want a Truth that goes beyond this temporary world?

We see through the Scriptures that there are people who did very well in this life with certain things, but there are others who did not do so well, humanly or carnally speaking. We read this, for example, in the book of Hebrews where it shows this abysmal contrast: “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.” Hebrews 11:30-40. So, did some have more faith than others and that's why they did better? To those who did not do very well, did they not believe properly? Absolutely not. Here it does not even give the idea that some were better than others, and that is why they did better in this world. We see that the passage says that both had the experiences and circumstances that they had because of their faith, some with successes here and now, and others with none.

So, what can we learn from this? That simply salvation and faith in Christ is not for our carnal good or for this temporary world, but for something beyond. What we have to understand is that this temporary world is a brief anteroom, a place where it is decided where we will spend eternity depending on what we do, to make us worthy of the original plan that God had with all humanity. God created man for himself, to do His will. And when we sinned, we voluntarily strayed away from that original design. But God, through His mercy, sent His Only Begotten Son so that through Him, our original purpose could be restored: to do God's will. Everything that happens here and now is to test and prepare the person who accepts Jesus as Lord for the eternal future, to see if they are worthy of going on to immortality. This says the Word: Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12. If we resist the temptation to stop doing God's will, despite the circumstances, whether we are doing well or not carnally speaking, we will receive the crown of life. If a person does not do the will of the Father by being submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, they will not live, but rather, will be eternally destitute of the glory of God. As it is written: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21. This is what God says to those of us who persist in this faith to do the will of the Father, to fulfill the purpose for which we were created and saved through Christ: “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’” 1 Corinthians 2:9. And the Word says this also: “And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.’” Revelation 21:6-7. So then, do you understand the true reason for why Christ died for you? Lord bless!
